Miguel Phil 1473 Journal 139 25 July. Bre Tarped bat clinging to wall just outside entrance to roost at 3:30 PM (air temp 16°C). I poked him in a stick, he felt as if not flying. Movements were very slow & exaggerated. Body temp about same seemed almost like mine (to my hands) — normally they feel hot. But no way of accurately measuring temp. Put up to usual 4 nets nearly completely enclosing the roost exit. By 8 PM we had caught no bat, a 9PM Myrcias actively flying throwing net, it looked felt normally hot. Heard a few others especially around the cook shed (where they is fire!). But not many. Nets left up all night, caught well also. Nighthawks, toads active. Lion killed a couple of sheep across the dam. A couple of men went after it (my .22 rifle!) but by the time they returned to the site of the kill, the lion had taken its carcass and left. They did see a lot of collared peccaries, they said. 6 weeks ago I found lion tracks in same area. Lots of ducks. We saw 50 or more Myrcias & a lot of teal. Albarenga says there are fewer macaw than there were a few days ago. They came with the cold. 26 July Oscar Carrizano - "el Patron-i" is now. Several trees & shrubs blooming clear, 6:30 AM temp 5°C, 6°C when last rose.
