Nye's pluv 1972 Journal 132 275 km Nw Villa Hayes, 18. Dept. Pt Hayes, Paragua about 3 meters - did not wreck or wash away. 1m deep walk miles thru the opening. The acre, side of river is very wide & dense overgrown appearance of a swamp, scale than arrive. Said to be full of big macares (Caiman lizards) Very little rain fell here this it was clouded for a day (June 13/14). The water level has dropped about 4" since we arrived, tho it is still several feet above where it was a month ago. Mosquitoes have gotten worse if that is possible than they were on June 10 when we arrived. June 15 launch overcast but the sun made them feel warm & flew so it was totally clear cool. Made it to Villa Hayes in 5 1/2 hrs. 2T sugar at about km 195. 16 June Boletos, Asuncion Paraguay I met up, 60', about 10. the bottom got off of the ground & they into the mangos. Caught me Vampires one little bee, was cool, changing - became humid, 3 feet way in. Became cool. Temp in 60's. The figs in the patio is still fruiting & there are still lots of bats around it at night. 2 rats caught in house kept for transporting. One of Roger's friend brought a snake caught in Asuncion.
