Wyer Phil 1973 Journal Recóleta, Asunción, Paraguay 6 June around two. They came in in groups - at least 4 or 5 swirl around the tree & leave something they hang up for a second a's, but no more. Mostly they seem to grab the fruit on the wing. Put a net on the roof ready, & on de ground caught 1 Ectarius & Vampyrops, & 3 Antilises. As usual, the Ectarius was the first captured before it was completely dark. The others all came well after Dark & kept coming until 9 or 10, when I shut the net. Warm (70's) partly cloudy S.N. wind. Lots of mosquitoes. Has been very wet, w frequent small showers overcast - partly cloudy skies, & wind from the N. Lots of birds & trees cleaning rival to the mangoes, capachos & ornamental stuff. 8 June cold front came this. It long down into 60's, niggers 50's. Raining, overcast, S wind. 9 June left for Chaco. Got as far as Bego Cerroto. Despite what the radio & the Ministre of Defense say, the road is closed. But weather is complete dees, two cold afternoon in 70's, SW wind. I discovered that with mosquitoes, even when the nets are abdominal, fly gently.
