May Pub 1973 Journal 120 Rio Verde, 300km NW Villa Hayes rd. Dept. Boqueron, Paraguay 15 May long tailed oryzomys, one light gray akodont, & most of the brown akodonts in closely grassland. One young & 2 of the brown akodonts in woodland around fallen vegetation. Left traps open. Caught 2 more of the small L.T.W. akodont & 1 dark gray akodont. Cel in the grassland traps, all late afternoon. Night warmer - 12°C. Partly cloudy. 1 Tassie, 2 small volocorys (released). Steel traps left set. Scent for deer, for fox. Walked the river bed until 1 PM. Seeing only the fox. Heard little else. & Set also 19 Sherman's all in the grassland, especially in low where there are burrows. Much mouse & guinea pig sign. The cattle seem to prefer the drier edges of the field where there is much dead brush. Far fewer mosquitoes & provoking are now medium calming & annoying. Sat 1 bat seen flying at dusk particular a pair of N. leporinus leaving the woods well before dark. 16 May 6 animals in traps including most of the small possums (ring damped), part of the grass) one of the long-tailed oryzomys, 2 light gray akodonts, 1 dark gray akodont & 1 unknown but probably oryzomy.
