Neger plat 1973 Journal 118 320 km NW Villa Hayes by rd., Dept. Atk. Hayers, Boquerai, Paraguay 13 May General bedj. I brought a roast lot of dropping. They said that the roofs generally so full of bats. Some roofs are tin most are split palm logs. left noon. still clear cool. Max temp in 70's. Rio Verde, 300 km NW Villa Hayes by rd., Dept. Boquerai, Paraguay. Beautiful American forest. Palo borracho, large quelbracho, other (big tree). Palo borracho is blooming (not much else is). dense, lots of bromeliad. Also nearby is savanna - which Baine says looks like African savanna - different grasses, some low trees, swamps too. As many tracks as before - tapir, pig, deer, agouti, crab-eating coon, capybara (?), coati (?) small cat. Tayra grus or mtu'lin, & a slew of smaller stuff. Piver nearly dry. Mostly unconnected pools. But the bed is 100-150 ft wide, sandy-muddy, often coated w. salt crystals. Ideal for tracks. A few mosquito, many tiny ticks. Saw a tayra & deer crossing river & catle, dark a herd of white lypped peccaries. 4 hot, all over pond(s) again! Noctilios! Gleein, early. Very little flying. Very cold - temp at [illegible] C in early morning. 2.0
