Rio Verde, 300 km NW Villa Hayes by rd., Dept.
Boquerai, Paraguay. Beautiful American forest.
Palo borracho, large quelbracho, other (big tree).
Palo borracho is blooming (not much else is).
dense, lots of bromeliad. Also nearby is
savanna - which Baine says looks like African
savanna - different grasses, some low trees,
swamps too. As many tracks as before -
tapir, pig, deer, agouti, crab-eating coon,
capybara (?), coati (?) small cat.
Tayra grus or mtu'lin, & a slew of
smaller stuff. Piver nearly dry. Mostly
unconnected pools. But the bed is 100-150
ft wide, sandy-muddy, often coated w.
salt crystals. Ideal for tracks. A few
mosquito, many tiny ticks. Saw a
tayra & deer crossing river & catle, dark a
herd of white lypped peccaries. 4 hot, all
over pond(s) again! Noctilios! Gleein,
early. Very little flying. Very cold -
temp at [illegible] C in early morning.
