Weyer Plu! 1973 Journal 275 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dept Mt Hayes, Paraguay 11 May left Tournicia at [illegible] AM. After 2 weeks of Rain & Cold. Road in a muddy mess. Weather, today is cold, partly cloudy, strong wind. Clearer toward evening. Arrived Charana at 5 PM. 2 MB up here, roost at house. Few droppings but looks recently swept. But definitely not as much noise from the road as usual. Bats starts appearing at about 6PM. Quite cold, Temp in mid 40's. Min. Temp 40. 38 bats 12 May cold, clear, windy. Bats in bag torpid at daybreak - slugish, all in a lump at bottom of bag. Gradually came out of it as I disturbed them. Not fat. Couple of lactate's?, but hair around nipple not much worn. Very few moets, of any kind day or night, none on margentina PM. Min Temp 6.5 C. Left 13 May [illegible] AM around 9 AM - clear, cold. 320 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dept Boqueron, Paraguay Juan de Salazar Catalin ranch. The "encargado" is Juan Zarz, who is also part owner. Ranch started 1935 on a small plot gradually added land. Now 110,000 ha. Cattle pop. low growing asked permission to stay on R Verde.
