Wyeas Plain 1973 Journal 114 4:60pm New Villa Mayerly Rd, Dept. Boqueron, Paraguay 8 April pigs peccary carcas, dysete carrying a flour sack to some sort of carcass. We have been told that deer like to come out & see themselves along the road after a rain. Pigs too? What a pleasant campsite! No mosquitoes or bitersome insects except an abundance of ants. cod pleasant. PM- set out we met over the small noodle pd. all traps set - includ 19 live traps. cought 5 Norctilio, 1 Myste, 2 Molossops, & one Desmodus in its net. Closed it at 11 PM. rat trap at 10 PM, caught 4 wood rats. cold - temp 66°F at 10 PM. cleared at about 9, med - of south wind 9 April only we more woodrats snaptaps several traps sprung & dragged, one w mouse just spilled in it. fate? 3 mice in live traps, 2 phyllostins & one calebant. Lots of stuff blooming - quelbracho, palo Verdecho, cactuses of several types, & others. some quelbracho w fruit some cactus w prickly pears. The live traps were set low along an unused dirt road leading thru beautiful forest. Some of the trees were 6-7 fts wide in dia. Must be sweet. Bene ground scrub of spiny shrub & bromeliads.
