108 Journal 275 km Nw Villa Hayes byrd, Dept Pt. Hayes Paraguay April Road above. But mostly this road goes thru low mtns & there are few trees big enough to have decent hollows. Around the house we found that the bat in the room where I'd collected previous had been smushed out a few days before. However, there were fresh droppings lots of MY & screaming from the roof so I put a net there. Went over to the sheep campal where there is a palm log roof. By lifting the logs & grabbing we caught several Myotis of both kinds (gray & brown) & a Tadarida. ( This type roof is made of split slightly uneven palm logs placed so that they overlap etc ). Also saw the same net as last night around the main bldg. These latter caught mostly some electromosquas but the first 2 caught about 50 Myots, mixed sp. I kept 10% & 50's of each of the 2 types & released the rest. ( This work took until April 3. The weight of these bats done [the lighter field] are appreciably lower.) The Molossus & Tadarida were very fat. 3 April AM-went for a rid w. cleaning, etc. Same grip horseshoe. We went out the same road but need further to an abandoned retiro. It has lain idle for 7 or 8 years at least. 15 km from here, 2 1/2 hours to get there.
