Vergy pluf 1975 Journal 107 2/75km NW Villa Hayes b'rd., Dept. 1 & Hayer, Paraguay warm, partly cloude, twilight imperi 78- bar 86. week if there no rain, it will be dry all the way to the river. Net - caught only 5 Myotis in PM. J&J at 3:30 (now off daylight savings time so, sun set at 6 & rise at 6) 1st of day light 2nd of day saw more of same kind, all the small, darker Myotis & all but 2 are males. Went for a ride w. Alveringa in a horse drawn cart. There is an old road - the pre-Trans-Chaco trail over which cattle were driven to Villa Hayes, which transected [illegible] ranch. Many miles thru swampy wast. It was along this that we traveled northward. Much very open wast. Trees 20 ft or so, patches of bromeliad but often are can see for 2-300ft thru the forest. Lot of track. Pig deer cow, armadillo, especially foxes, a few cats. Very dense magueta, but doe as was't in shady places & not too bothersome in the sun. Saw one fox, which in retrospect seems different - map red & yellow design on large ears. I asked, & according to Alveringa they are 2/3s recognized. The name, translated mean red faced fox & common fox. PM - looked around for best guest. One Noctilio wast (ley noil) in a Polo [illegible] barochu along the
