Verg plus 1973 Journal 103 24 March 12 kmN. Tobeli'legu, Dept. Cordillera, Paraguay. large # of insects dropping out of tree, into the swarm belw. The tree spruce were loaded with ants - every twig & leaf laden flew on it. Their bite is not particularly painful at least not compared to a jiro and Feltus that their poison is not so potent. Night very clear calm 11PM temp 78°F, 25 March 6AM temp 68°F. Nothing in trap. Looked round in grassland - no mouse sign. PM- large I mevo - like lyred in one of the foot snaptaps. Changed all traps - put live traps in swamp (mule & grasse) about ½ - live snaptaps in swamp (boda rushes grasses with low open grass, water legumin, etc. water 6"deep) & about ½ in dry, sl. elevated grassland & brush. In the net I caught & released 1 A stiles (small & gray) & 12 stierine. Caught & kept 1 L. borealis, Pysodema, & 3 Toratia. & all but 5 and 7 the stierino & 1 of the Troatia were caught over waters. 11PM temp 72°F. clear, windless. 26 March one rat in a live trap. Nothing else. 6AM temp 68°F Clear, windless, heavy dew. Note - that 2 of the Toratia have distinct pelge & immature repto organs. Recoleta, Asuncion, Paraguay noted droppings on the porch. set 2 net, leg wood. caught 10 Melasopos & 1 Eptecin around 8PM. clear, N wind, temp 27°C at 10PM.
