Meyer Phil 1973 Journal 87 275 km NW Villa Hayes lynd, Dept. Pte. Hayes, Paraguay. 31 Jan I've been getting at the experimental station rather than "gete ments". The latter are present but uncommon. apparently it's been a long time since anyone seen an ocelot. Tapei here present but uncommon. capybara are common. They apparently have a very large lake (fresh H2O!) & lots of swamp. Forests on the road. pig tracks. nice place. lots of cactus & guarayaba here, some mangos. soil clay, look a little less ferce than at the experimental station. 275 km NW Villa Hayes lynd, Dept. Pte. Hayes, Paraguay 1 Feb long walk in morning - east from building, all the way to fence w. veg tables, then S to end of station, then to road and back. mostly very nice, untouched forest - thick, hoary undergrowth of shrubs & branclias tall trees palo borracho etc. killed, tate' polli', & charota, & woodpe. saw some ducks. & picked up a fox skull & a Tate' polite carcass' skull. The tate' polli' was in a more barren area - "venalar" - cactus venal (a prosopis) other thorny shrubs, but with a very open -
