Wife's Plat 1973 Journal 87 230 km NW Villa Hayes by rd., Dept Pto. Hayes, Paraguay 29 Jan to try to keep it alive for target typing. 295 km NW Villa Hayes by rd., Dept Pto. Hayes, Paraguay 30 Jan left Buen Amigo around 1 broken brakes. arrived Chaco experimental station about 5:30 PM. hot, partly cloudy. we passed thru a brief storm tonight but no rain has fallen here for some time about a week. Fairly dry - the water level in the lake is still down a couple feet from when it was last seen. The station prospers. many hectares now planted. Light at night! Macchi not here. Put traps in brush piles (around fallen trees) at the edge of fields to the S. 19 Sherman, also 1 bob net. In the net I caught 2 Molosops (released) & 2 Phyllostoma. Shot one of a pair of Eoliis geoffreyi which were hunting in the cleared field (but only 10-15m from the forest edge). 10PM temp at least 90 but w. a moderate breeze. 31 Jan 3 Phyllostoma & 1 Akodon, all alive & healthy. The Eoliis had a full belly - 1 lizard 1 guinea pig, & 1 Akodon, caterina's hot & partly - mostly cloudy. preserved 2 snakes which were caught around construction near the house. Both appear to be same kind - dark back, yellow belly,
