Merry Pluis 1973 Journal 86 230 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dest. Pte Hayes, Paraguay 28Jan saw 2 guans crossing rlyroad near the net's caught a strang, bright [illegible] in the bathroom. It even mixed in with several [illegible] These are said to have a poisonous bite. 29Jan hot + still. Rained in afternoon, about 5 mm. There were puddles for a few hours but most then dried up. In am I caught some sort of frog, reminiscent of a horned lizard. Put net over a pond near the house, but at in a few hundred meters of the woods. Birds were moderately productive. Unfortunately the wind came up about 9 (shortly after dark), & we stopped catching lots. It looked like the sky might clear & the winds stop, so I left the net up all night (we quit at 10). In the morning, besides a strang sandpiper, a kite & a parakeet-like thing, I caught 2 Tadarida, a Molossops aratini ego, + 2 vampire - the first from de Chero. One had a swollen stomach. I asked again if the house or cattle had been bothered but "el mayor" persisted that they haven't. The chickens, he says, are occasionally missing. Forgot to mention that day before yesterday I caught mouse under the bank of a still upright tree. About 1 m off of the ground. We decided
