Nuyen Phil 1973 Journal 85 230 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dept Pto Hayes, Paraguay. 28 Jan Clear & hot & windy. Max temp ~40°C. cought one Myotis in bedroom behind a picture frame. Started flying in mid afternoon which drew our attention to him. Also saw another which we couldn't get too like - they may be roosting solitarily or in small groups around the building. Also met the America - like lizards. Bright blue & yellow on the belly, lighter green on the back. These are very common both in the marsh & in the drier areas. The capité's showed us a & samayú (?) ( Palo barracho ) with a completely hollowed base. Dropping 6" deep at base. This is no roost where they used to burn set the bat. Mbo' py'tá - probably Noctilio leporinus. The first time they burned it they got 324 bat, he said last time burned was ~6 months ago. Smells like N. leporinus, but I couldn't see anything. 2 nets up, by the Noctilio roost, I netted in October. The lowe one, which crawled Noctilio & a reddish Myotis yielded only 2 N. leporinus & 1 N. leporinus. The second roost which I also produced many N. leporinus in October, this time produced only & that w/o bassily - about 10.
