Wye's Plw 1972 Journal 77 Resoleto, Jaurucan, Paraguay 29 Nov yet lots of bat activity. The roast onto path, which has been producing 6-7 clapping a day, suddenly started producing 40-50 a day or two ago. This evening several of the bats flying around the house looked like vespertilioids rather than the more common light straight flying molossids. All bats tattooed & released. 30 Nov Luis S. Iobati, Luzre, Dept. Cordillera, Paraguay. This time we're camped on the east side of the road (north last time) by a river (1/2-1 m deep, 4-5 m across, swift). Heavily grazed grassy field with an also grazed swamp & then co-jingly riparian vegetation. The soil in this place is [illegible] clay. There are some sandy areas which support a low second growth (6 ft), very dense, mostly Prosopis. Took around I set very little sign of mice & no obvious places to set nets. Weather is threatening - heavy clouds, thunder & lightning. Hot afternoon temp with sun shining was 95OF. Windy. Even complete overcast, temp 75, breezy, with some rain. The main storm seems to have missed. Set out 30 snap traps (18 in swamp, 12 in sandy 2nd growth), & 19 Sherman's (all in swamp) borrowed from Bernie. Set up 2 nets over grassy field of border. 8:30 - caught one goatacker & 1 vampire.
