Nooting in net over swimming pool - probably too much water elsewhere. Encarnación, Paraguay 16 Nov Still drier, w. rain showers. 9PM - walked down to culvert in front of house which is open & filled with [illegible] water. Several frog at the edge. These make a strange whining or squeaking sound & are reminiscent of a cat crying. The sound is produced by blowing air from their inflated lungs into a throat pouch, which therefore expands - rather than contracts - as the sound is produced. #D 563-564. 23 Nov nets before storm. 1 net placed at top of 2 poles, 1 @ top [net] perhaps 15 ft up. 4 molossid caught at 7:45 - 8:15; 2 Europe(?), 2 of the medium sized Molossids.
