Nov 72 Journal Recoleta, Asunción, Paraguay 3 Nov Vampyrops (which died & was put up) released. Vampyrops- released: 14 preg, 14 lar, & 19 molk. There are 4 Eptesius. Was low, the way was wide open & bleady. Postpartum? Net opened all right, caught the Eptesius right after dark, checked for last time at 10:30, still 4 Vampyrops were in net at 6:30AM. Nov 4 Same net. North dry 11 PM. Eptesius, 1 Vampyrops, & 1 Antilena, at 6:30 AM. Nov 5 same net, plus 2 enclosing the beam on the porch under which bat droppings appear. Caught 4 Eptesius (worn out) at 7:30 warm (85°), rain threatening. Also can't get no Antilena 'about 1/2 mile mangos 1.6 km NE of the Gral Genera Ave San Martin in Asunción, Paraguay. Isla de Francia. 11 Nov. 70°. Had been cloudy during day, but cleared & turned cool humid St. Iago. 4 nets. Caught 1 Eptesius & 1 Sturmius. Lots flying all high. This seems a poor place to set - lots of bat, but nothing to drive them low enough to net. There are a number of trees blooming - at least 5 carapiceros species. So far only the papayas have ripe fruit. 12 Nov Returned in 4 PM to rob honey from a stingless bee nest. The nest looked like one of the large black termite nests.
