Wey Pue 1972 Journal 59 15oct Miss Tobatiy rd Dept Cordillera Paraguay from the cliffs (50' at least). Poletus denit in general seems low. I suspect that the Meadows are frequentlly burned to encourage the growth of a grass which we see being harvested, the don't know why. There were burned sticks to attest to some burning but most of the fields were covered with new growth & of this grass it would not show obvious sign of burning. If it is the case that they are burned, then it there is an a possible reason why rodent denit is so low. Generally the birds are dull. Lots of turdules & sparrows. Flock of a long-tailed flycatcher coming thru. Few raptors, mostly caracara, but I did see 1 or 2 hawks. The greys they met in the first day saw monkeys, & I can fox sign. Probably every hunting. 16oct corner Kulitechek & generalisimo Franco, Asuncion, Paraguay night warm & windless. Temp ~75. Clear, & but not much seen as heard flying. Caught up casuar egg over swimming pool at 8PM, one L. borealis in same vol at 6:30 AM.
