Chaco Experimental Station 295 km NE
Villa Hayes, Depto. Pto. Hayes, Paraguay
20 Sept one golden winged laparo released. Photo
of iblagran. due to rain rd closed so departure
delayed at least 24 hours. Walked to the trail
leading thru woods at the NE corner of the NE
cleared field & set 50 snay traps, all in
heavy weeds. Checked 10 PM, caught 1 locust &
1 phyllosipe. weather clearing, cool (61°F).
21 Sept Traps run 6 AM, caught more abundant.
Most are of the large brown type so common
in-the field & I put up only a few of these
seem to be uliginosus. Also caught a
sample of a smaller, redder type, more
grizzled about, which I put up in no
obvious difference in habitat in
which traps were placed. Fly time
I did catch mice along the edge of the
patches of laurel leaf. 4 traps set low in
densely looking tree produced nothing.
Weather partly cloudy, cool (low 70's).
PM - Maali saw a couple of deer along
the road. Say they often come out to
sun after a rain. I rode & walked to
lake & back by road. Wood of lake
is different - long area of brushy, trashy,
greasy stuff - should be trapped.
Evening cold - in 50's.
