They burned the fields where we trapped 12-13 Sept - fierce high fire. Too bad, smoke plumes visible for miles. Macchi friend went fishing in the bulldogged cow ponds. Caught a number of 10-12" fish large perity fins & a big mouth full of entangled teeth, looked primitive & funny. Not a catfish at all. Macchi says they bulldoze the park & the fish appear - no need to plant them. 16 Sept Very strong dry wind noon temp 95 deg quite hazy, both clouds & smoke. PM - walked N to fence with myself & Berrie's two assistants. Saw several tinamous & chachalacas. Very dense damp monte for most of this area, changes into open shrub forest in places. Due to
