Myers Phil 1972 Journal 45 Chaco Experimental Station 295 km NW Villa Hayes by rd., Sept. Rto Hayes, Paraguay 12 Sept. Tapacho, Paraiso, several merisoid & papilumatos legumes, [illegible] tree & many kinds of herbs. There is about the same amt of ground water as there was in June tho the w level fluctuates considerably w. rain. Lots of mosquitoes - especially right after the rain. evening warm- low 70's. & nearly (off & on). 13 Sept. 27 mice in traps, 2 thodon types were so badly damaged (heads chewed off) that I pitched them. Rest are #s 361-381. 109gms., almost abundant of 3+ type - about 1/2 of the traps were set in grass, the other half in brush heaps in the midst of the grass - shelvitary in distance a meter or a few feet apart. afternooon type mouse # caught like 370 6 1 " 367 2 3 " 364 ?? ??=4 total either 4:0 or 3-1 " 371 0 3 orizons 1 0 Many traps sprung & dragged, probably by armadillos. bad amt damage to the mice & most were pretty rotten when I stuffed them probably caught early in evening. today is warm (70's), overcast, w occasional very light rain. left traps open, re-set at 3:30-4 PM.
