Ept Rte Hayes, Paraguay.
10 Sept 6 net set along road thru forest almost
same site as 9 Sept in order to see where
failure to catch anything on 10 Sept was place
or weather. Caught no bats tonight either -
apparently they just don't fly when it gets cool.
Flew at dusk we did see a couple
saw a small spotted cat & a grison (?) along
the road about 9:30 PM. Heard shuffling
& grunting that was probably a large armadillo
cool. Released 2 dendrolaptids (#16 352), 2
tierdids (slaty thrush, Rufous bellied thrush).
Cool in morning warmer (80s) in afternoon.
Netted birds for awhile in AM - very poor (started
late around 9:30). Released a Rufous hornero, kept
awren? #355. Ontigo brought in a totu bolito
cought in a steel trap & said that one of the
other men caught a gato monte (for which the
traps are set. Skin value = G-700). Asked Macchi
about skunks - common he says. Also about
aguaraguai (pampas wolf) - says used to
be more common, but still not rare. A Mate,
or so ago they were awakened several tumbler
are howley. Set only 3 nets all over
ponds near house. Saw a few bats.
