Wyer plus 1972 Journal 25 2 km NE of Concepcion, Depto. Concepcion, Paraguay 17 July vine, dense trees, a thicket growth of wild pineapple & a more eerie appearance than the forest we passed thru to the south. Most shrubs are thorny. There is not really a canopy, though, this could be due to selective cutting. Species different seemed higher than in the Chaco; few tree & had lost all their leaves, & those where shrubs & tree blooming, tho not many. There are several lakes, both natural & manmade, but none more than an acre or more than 3-4m deep. We decided to set one - with of these hundred square feet of open water, & an equal area of bunch grasses growing out of water. We saw a lily padded seep swamp, mostly dried up, & numerous watering little mudlidges for the cattle. Put out (thunderly) 25 snap traps at a grassland-forest edge. No net results. 18 July 1 set - a hopping small carnivorph, in the traps was spine, otherwise looks like an immature probiscyphy. Spent the day working along a rd which traverses the ranch, starting from the folding (road from the air strip) 8 km W to the R. Paraguay,
