Thru the middle of this run, I traced
an old road, which petered out into a
trail thru 'the floating veg. probably
kept clear by crocodiles (reported to be up
to 3 m, quite safe?). Numerous
screamer, stork, heron, ibis, and a
few muscovy ducks. Traps set
at base of trees, on floating veg, and on
rafts made of cut reeds, & on some
rotting log structures at edge of lake.
Lots of clipping evident esp in rushes &
around floating vegetation. Saw a
rat on rotting log structure - jumped
out of a hollow log when I stepped on it, &
disappeared under crate. May be sign of
larger rodent - eg., trails & clipping, tho
the locals claim that weas, neiche,
capybaras or nutria are found here.

Traps from last night - 1 frog, 15 well
footed swamp rats (11 put up, # 192-202),
vole like mouse (in grass at edge of swamp,
that were caught # 191) & 2 new
long tailed swamp mice, # 189-190. More
wild clouds building up. Decided
to do 'miscellaneous' trapping to get
more of these long tailed mice & to
