There is some 2nd growth, which lies tree of 40-50 ft height. Here in particular, there are lots of people ("criaturas", according to Manuel), & traps must be hidden. At work places "conejitos" are supposed to be abundant. The description sounds like a guinea pig, despite the name. They are ns" long, agouti colored, b shaped like a large guinea pig if the glimpse I had means anything. They eat grass, leaving half-chewed piles like Microtus, & gnaw on exposed guaranba roots. They do make obvious runways. Supposedly that were easy to come by until a large hollow tree was cut down. They're still abundant, flying in early evening. Supposedly no large forms, but tiny clusters of many individuals, hanging from branches during the day - resemble a bees nest. Schade at the museum at the University said that was Josiasius - hmm. Only other obvious mandacateated mammal signs are numerous small holes
