Miclotus californicus
Sept 9 4 1/2 mi N, 1 1/2 mi E Willow Creek, 800 ft., Humboldt Co, Calif-
In baiting the same trap line found
one, definitely a daytime catcher, in lush green
green grass quite close to this morning's specimen in
grass (disc.)
Sept 6 Red Mt., 5300 ft., 14 mi N Hayfork, Trinity Co, Calif.
Caught what must be this sp. under a
Ceanothus cordulatus bush. At the edge of a
large very dry patch of it, but first downhill
from thin Ponderosa pine, white fir, and
cedars. No grass at all. Ground bare
between bushes and beneath them except for
a few dead leaves. The Ceanothus forms a
thick surface covering. Ground dry, hard
and gravelly. Comes closer to a habitat for
Perognathus.
Sept 7 Same location

Caught 10" nearby in Ceanothus cordulatus,
this time in the middle of the patch so as to
leave no doubt of where he came from. Traps
in adjacent coniferous forest and along water
with no cover had nothing.
