Aug 22 Schoolhouse Peak 2900 +/- ft., Humboldt Co., Calif.
Pulled away a block of exfoliating rock from a large outcropping in the middle of grassy pasture.
Piece of rock was about 2 in. thick, and revealed a small crack apparently closed except from the side. The outcrop was full of such crannies, with loose pieces of rock, but found no more.
Dr. Pearson found another in an open crack in another outcrop.
