25 April Dorner's Camp and Kelbaker Road in the rain,
San Bernardino co., CA.
tortoises on Essex Road between Hwy 40 and
the Caverns at about 0730 PST. They said a
pair of these courting.
At about 1700 PST a thunderstorm blew over
and brought about 1 hours worth of rain to
Dorner's Camp. My parents arrived for a
two day visit just after the storm blew
over.
After dark Bruce and I took my parents
out to show them how to night drive looking
for snakes. We found a shovel-nosed snake on
Kelbaker Road about 1 mi. north of the old Hwy
66. Then we turned around and drove back up
toward Kelso. We found a long-nosed snake
on the pavement at about 2030 PST, after the
rain had stopped (Species account: Long-nosed Snake).
Then we went back to the cabin.
