Dorner's Camp, Granite Mountains,
San Bernardino CO., CA.
Bruce and I stayed at the cabin
for most of the day, reading and
cleaning the cabin.
Outside, it was sunny but windy and
cold. At about 1400 PST an old man walked
up to the cabin to ask us for help; he
had two flat tires on his old truck and
was stuck in a sandy wash.
Bruce drove him back to his trailer
between the Kelso Pines and the Granites
to get his spare tires. They picked
me up on their way back to the truck
between Dorner's Camp and Cottonwood
canyon and out near Kelbaker Road.
The man was very tall and heavy built;
he mostly mumbled when he spoke and was
very hard to understand. We helped him fix
his truck and he offered us eight dollars
for our help; we accepted his money.
Bruce said that the man said he has
lived in the area for a long time and
that he remembered one of the original
owners and residents of Dorner's Camp.
Late in the afternoon, I went to the
