3.R. MOON 1987 Species Account Desert Spiny Lizard (Sceloporus magister) 16 May Quail Spring Basin, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino co., CA. Bruce and I captured three adult lizards on on boulder piles just south of the granite hillside near the west end of the basin. Habitat - Creosote - scrub - grass with numerous boulder outcrops; near granit boulder covered mountainside. Catalogued by Bruce Waggy. 25 May Goldstone Spring, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino co., CA. T10N R14E Sec31 sw'1/4. elev. 1420 m. I found one adult female lizard in a pitfall trap just below a Desert Almond bush below the spring. Habitat - moist area with some surface water in rocky ravine in generally barren (burned) rocky piƱon-junipers covered mountainside. BRM 101. 29 May Vulcan mine area, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino co., CA. T10N R18E sec25 sw'1/4. elev. ~1200m. Bob Macey & I caught two lizards (one juvenile, one adult) on rockpiles. One was along an old dirt road, The other near a rocky wash in Yucca, Cactlaw, scrub habitat, ~1600 PST. BRM 104, 105.
