3.R. Moon 1987 Species Account Western Patch-nosed Snake (Salvadora hexalepis) 15 may Kelbaker Road 9.8 mi. south of Hwy 40, San Bernardino co., CA. T6N R13E Sec 20 sw'1/4, elev. ~380 m. Bruce and I found another adult patch-nosed snake on the pavement in the late afternoon. Sandy & somewhat rocky sparse creosote-scrub desert. Overcast. Apparently S.h. hexalepis - one upper labial reaches the eye. Cstlog #87 22 may Kelbaker Road 6.9 mi. north of Hwy 40, Granite Pass, San Bernardino co., CA. T8N R13E Sec 16 se'1/4, elev. ~1180 m. Paula and Kent and I (they're from UCB) found a dead snake on the dirt road just (~1730 PST) south of Granite Pass. Creosote-Yucca-scrub desert on loamy soil with many granite boulder-outcrops. Apparently S.h. hexalepis. Cstlog #99
