Desert Horned Lizard
(Phrynosoma platyrhinos)
17 May Vulcan Mine Road approx. 3 mi. southeast of Kelbaker Road, Providence Mountains, San Bernadino co., CA.
I saw a horned lizard on the pavement at about 1520 PST, ~32°C.
It ran off the road as I drove past.
Habitat - sandy & gravelly washes near road with some rocky areas nearby;
Creosote bush & small shrub vegetation.
