Brad R. Moon 1987 Species Account Coachwhip (Masticophis flagellum) 25 April Powerline Road 1-3 miles cast of Kelbaker Road, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino co., CA. 0920 PST, ~30°C, Bruce and I found a large coachwhip on the dirt, powerline road. Bruce caught it. Habitat is hilly (slightly) with some boulder outcrops, creosote bush, yucca, and other bajada shrubs on loose ground. elev. ~1000 m. Total length 149 cm. Reddish with black neck region and fairly distinct crossbands (reddish) along entire length of body; pink below along entire length. Catalog # BRM #53.
