Rosy Boa

Bonanza King Mine, Providence Mountains,
San Bernardino County, CA. TION R14E Sec 3 nw'1/4.
I found an adult rosy boa under a
rock on a barren slope of old mine tailings.
1600 PST, ~20°C, overcast 50-75% cloud
cover, Elev. ~1340 m. Talus slope where I
found snake is south of top of the hill to the
south of the main mine tunnel.
Total length approx 76 cm (it wouldn't relax to
be measured accurately). Several small scars
on back along entire length, probably from
activity or burrowing in rocky areas.
Greyish ground color with 3 orange stripes
with mostly smooth edges. ♀.

San Bernardino County, CA. T11N R14E Sec 32
sw'1/4 Elev. 1400m.
I found an adult ♀ boa stretched out across
a rocky wash at the canyon fork at 1755 PST, just
after sunset*. Rocky, brushy canyon, just below
pines-juniper woodland. Snake did not move or try
to escape when I approached; it was easy to catch
even with a heavy, full backpack on my back.
