B.R. Moon 1987 Species Account Common Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getulus) 28 April Blair Bros Ranch Road 1.6 mi. north of Essex Road, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino CO, CA. T10N RISE Sec 29 nw'/4. elev. ~960 m. Bruce and and I found a small adult kingsnake crossing a dirt road at 1645 PST. The habitat was flat, creosote-Yucca-scrub desert with sandy and rocky washes cutting through the plains. Overcast locally with a thunderstorm to the north but local rainfall. This snake is shiny, as if it recently shed its skin, and saddled with jet black between narrow white rings. Catalogue#: 62. 4 may Kelbaker Road 2.1 mi. north of Hwy 40. San Bernardino co., CA. T8N R3E Sec 31 nw'/4. elev. ~1050m. Bruce and I found a dead, small kingsnake on the pavement in mid morning. Habitat is mostly sandy, creosote-scrub desert with few rocky areas nearby. Catalogue# 66.
