Leopard Lizard
(Gambelia wislizenii)
21 May Kelbaker Road south of Kelso Dunes Road,
San Bernardino co, CA.
I saw an adult lizard with bright red
spots on sides of body laying on the edge
of the pavement in [illegible] mid morning, mild temp..
Creosote & scrub habitat on sandy & rocky soil.
Lizard escaped being noosed for photographs.
I was travelling with Claudia Luke &
friends and with Harry Greene & friends in
another car.
29 May Vulcan Mine Road approx 3mi. southeast of
Kelbaker Road, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino co, CA.
Bob Macey and I found a dead adult
lizard that had eaten an adult Uta stansburiana
on the pavement in the late afternoon; lizard
had been run over by a car. Habitat -
Creosote-scrub on mostly rocky soil.
