Goldstone Spring, Providence Mountains, San
Bernardino county, CA. TION RLYE sec 31 sw'1/4
We found a large rattlesnake under a
desert almond bush just below the dripping pipe
that is Goldstone spring. This snake was grey
and speckled anteriorly and reddish-pink and
faintly banded postere posteriorly. As we
approached, it slowly and quietly crawled into
the center of the bush (on the ground, not
climbing). Rocky area, sparse vegetation
in once-burned open piƱon-juniper woodland.
1830 PST.
