R. MOON 1987 Journal 101 29 may Foshay Pass, Providence Mountains, San Bernardino co., CA. and out to Essex Road. From there we drove up to Bonanza King Mine and looked around the ghost town of Providence at the mine. There are several pieces of old tin scattered throughout the creosota covered hillside, but we found only woodrats under them. So back to Essex Road and west over Foshay Pass again. On Vulcan Mine Road, where the mountain ridge comes near the road, we found a dead adult leopard lizard that had eaten an adult Uta (Species account: Leopard lizard). We stopped on Vulcan Mine Road to take some more photos of the sunset over the Kelso Dunes, then we drove toward the summit of Kelbeker Road near the Kelso Mountains. On our way up to the summit we found a long- tailed Brush Lizard on the pavement just after sunset (Species account: Long Tailed Brush Lizard). After dark we found a gecko on the pavement south of Kelso on our way back to Dorner's camp for the night (Species account: Banded Gecko).
