25 May Cottonwood Cove area, Clark
County, Nevada.
Sidewinder that was half buried in the sand.
flesh
It had been eaten to the back bone for part
of its length below its head.
Then, after sunset, we made several
passes along the road a few miles west of
the cove. We found a long-nosed snake that
appears to be (by the old description)
Rhinocheilus lecontei clarus (species account:
Long-Nosed Snake).
On our way home, after it had gotten
quite cold we found a glossy snake on the
road just east of Searchlight. We did
not see any other animals on the road
all the way from Searchlight to Mipton to
Cima to the Granite Mountains.
