Quail Spring Basin, Providence
mountains San Bernardino co., CA.
Bruce and I drove through
Quail Spring Basin this afternoon
to see what Quail Spring looked like.
On the dirt road about 1 mi. southeast
from the Arrowweed spring road we
saw a Bobcat run out from the
creosote bushes on the south side of the
road and run up the granite boulder
hillside to hide behind a large boulder
(Species account: Bobcat). When the Bobcat
went behind the boulder a large
Chuckwella ran over the top of the
boulder from behind it and down the
south face into a crevice (Species
account: Chuckwlla).
We continued east into the basin
until we got to the southeastern most
granite ridge on the north side of the road.
we stopped there to try to catch some
Spring Lizards on the boulders. Altogether
we saw three of them which we captured
for Bruce's diet study on them (Species
account: Desert Spiny Lizard).
