R. MOON 1987 Journal 66 15 may Dorner's Camp, Granite Mountains, San Bernardino co., CA. Stayed in this morning due to storm front. Outside it has been raining almost constantly for about 4 hours (since 0730 PST). It's also raining throughout the Kelso valley and over the Providence Mountains; this appears to be a large storm front rather than localized thunder showers. The air temp. now (1130 PST) is 17°C. Nick Waser and Mary Price arrived last night; they went out with Phillippe this morning to look at the burn area on the ridge north of Dorner's Camp. They're very friendly people and I think they're going to stay for about a week to look at the burn area and work on setting up some permanent transects to study plant regression. At about 1530 PST Bruce and I went down to Chambless to get some gasoline. we stopped along the way at the mine south of windy point in the Bristol Mountains. we hiked around the base of the mountain for about '1/2 hour; I saw one chuckwalla on the cont'd
