12 May Santa Cruz to the Granite Mountains,
San Bernardino co., CA.
Bruce and I left Santa Cruz at
0900 PST and headed for the desert.
Along the coast it was foggy but
inland a few miles it became sunny
and stayed that way (and hot too) until
we reached Mojave. From there accross
the desert it was dark and nearly 100%
overcast. It rained on and off, with high
winds, until we reached Barstow where it
rained hard constantly. On Hwy 58 a few
miles west of First st. There was a
flash flood that washed out a segment of
the road and flooded several areas.
East of Barstow it stopped raining and we
could see a few spots of blue sky between
the clouds.
We arrived at Dorner's at about 1830
PST. It was overcast and windy but no
rain. It was warm too, but I didn't take
the air temp.
Now we're tired. Good night.
