Actitis macularia
28 July Pithnager River, N.W. SE Cape Sabine, Alaska
Collected a & Spy catfish (lar bony young, apparently
a mother breeding record! It was found on a
broad bar at the edge of a large V shaped
bend in the river where there were several
old channels crossing the V plus lots of open
space between the willows in the alluvium.
Bird first seen when it flew up and landed
on top of a willow, rather downward for a
candygaper. Missed first shot at it and had to
chase for 15 minutes or more and finally got it
in place where first seen but found doing
young this time. adult gave distraction
display — which didn't distract!
