Childs 1957 Actitis macularia 28 July Pithnager River, N.W. SE Cape Sabine, Alaska Collected a & Spy catfish (lar bony young, apparently a mother breeding record! It was found on a broad bar at the edge of a large V shaped bend in the river where there were several old channels crossing the V plus lots of open space between the willows in the alluvium. Bird first seen when it flew up and landed on top of a willow, rather downward for a candygaper. Missed first shot at it and had to chase for 15 minutes or more and finally got it in place where first seen but found doing young this time. adult gave distraction display — which didn't distract!
