June 16 Point Barrow, Alaska
Frank saw a pair on LW yesterday. There was a pair, of which Frank took near the first ridge and another pair on LE.
June 17 Pair near first ridge
June 18 Took one of pair near pipe-line
June 22 A pair on LW gave distraction & broken wing act near stake 10E so it must have a nest nearby.
June 28 Much more common now. A flock of 15 on marsh N of LW today. Yesterday we were in area of nest on 88 south and did not find it.
June 29 I got a 4+ set of eggs near the pipe-line. We got the broken wing act.
July 2 Found nest, C=4, at 5 card of 88. Very decorated
July 4 2 of lab in a.m.
July 16 F on 88 still incubating
July 19 3 down young were banded at stake 15 on LW. The adults were with them and both put on distraction displays, one bird was very excited and the display was magnificent. The down young are the most beautiful young shore-birds I have seen, the lemon yellow down being a very delicate shade. We saw in the weasel and I caught one young immediately. After look around
