July 4 Rose took a 9 5 of capt towards the village July 14 We saw a bird on a nest in area where I got the Spectacled Eider. July 19 We checked nest and found 2 eggs Aug 6 East Bannak, 110 mi SSE Barrow, Alaska A pair of Pacific Loons were seen on the lake and their behavior and calls compared with the Yellow billed Loon. The pair remained together despite my chasing in a canoe and they gave a harsh guttural note regularly that contrasted strongly with the melodious laugh of the other species. As they dove they give a high pitched squeek as if ggelling air from the air sacs. They easily outswam & outdove me in the canoe and almost appeared to enjoy the chase. They are much smaller than adamsii.
