Childs 1958 Buteo lagopus 5 June Pitmegea River, Cape Sabine Alaska Rite saw 2 on a bluff west of Wolverine Mt. 309m Did not see any in the above area. 3 July Saw 2 Buteos on way up river in plain probably this species. 6 July Pitmegea River, 16 miles SE Cape Sabine, Alaska Found a nest under cmentrust. on a cliff 7 miles up the Northfork of the Pitmegea. at first 2 though it was inactive until I saw the 4 bringing nesting material to it. She was mottled grey while the 3 was brown with the white tail. 8 July At about 4 ft. from the spot where Duck- Hawks nested last year opposite the two pands, we found a nest with 4 young. The adult 4 and 2 young were collected. The largest and smallest young were taken. The only evidence of prey was a longspur feather at the nest. In the stomachs of the young was found Microtus remains and stomachs were very full. A third adult Rough-leg fly by to see what the commotion was all about! 13 July One seen near mt. my Northfork 16 July Young well fed at nest when we collected. F. am mottled M. oemus was in the nest. Took it and young bird plans to raise it. adult was eating young Ristail.
