One flew up river at 2200 2 July 50 E at river mouth. Yesterday a chick came peeping thru camp and I chased and caught it on the other side of the river. On the way back it jumped out of the boat and dove so I could not catch it — a merry chase with John Cantlon watching. The birds at the river mouth are in all stages of plumage, Some with white heads as well as eye patches. 10 July about 40 at Totti Creek 24 July Pitmezen River, 12mi SE Cape Sabine, Alaska a 9 with several young seen on the ponds at three of the river.
