Bailey does not record them north of the arctic circle June 17 a gain on river N of camp. 20 June Harry Brown said Eskimos at rivermouth shot 2. 22 July Patnega River, 20 t miles SE Cape Sabine, Alaska Two swan ahead of the boat just out of range but we could not get them. 23 July Patnega River, 15 miles SE Cape Sabine, Alaska Got another shot but missed. Perle has done all the shooting. Collected a juvenile, hope of this species. 24 July Patnega River, 10 mi SE Cape Sabine, Alaska Tried several times for another q. Caught one in a little bay where it apparently couldn't take off but we didn't realize this until too late. It ran across the bank to the river and although splattered twice with 12 ga. got away.
