June 18 Found nest, no eggs 1415
June 19 Nest has one egg 1430.
20 June "still" "" 2330. Eskimo shot 3
at river mouth.
21 June 2200 Two eggs in nest. Loon stayed in pond, body
mainly submerged and head stretched out flat
along water surface. Flew after I passed by.
28 Jun Have found a nest on every puddle or lake
25' long or larger. This bird is the only
water bird of any sort in abundance near camp.
7 July 2 nests, 30' apart in one pond across river from camp.
10 July Three pairs at Titus Creek
24 July Pitmegea River, 2 mi. SE Cape Sabine, Alaska
This was the first point on our way downstream
that we saw these birds and they were about
the rest of the way back.

May be in the last two weeks the
3+ pairs of loons have performed their
flight song or pair re-inforcement song
in a loosely organized flock. One
yields a solosong while the
other gives a mallard-like call.
