E. V. Miller 1940 Peromyscus melanotis May 1 9,600± ft. 5 mi. E Ameca, Mexico. In a habitat of medium thick brush and conifers and bunch-grass, took 1♂, 1♀ of this species. May 2 11,000± ft. N slope Popocatepetl, Mexico. In habitat of thick bunch-grass on dark fine soil took 6♂, 4 ♀ of this species. May 8 12,000± ft. NW slope Nevada de Toluca, Mexico. Took 7♂, 3♀ of this species along a small creek. The ground is covered with thick bunch grass and a thin stand of pines 70-100 ft. tall. May 9 Macho de Agua, 10 mi. ESE Zitacuarro, Michoacan, Took 3♂, 1♀ in traps set near pines and among Baccharis sp. and rocks on the top of a ridge.
